Snow

We experienced the perfect snow storm this week.  It was enough to cancel work for a couple of days, but not so much that we couldn’t get out and about.  Becca and Phil made a snowman, although Becca insisted it was a snowgirl, not a snowman.

Phil and the kids made a couple of trips to a nearby park.  I was sad not to join them, but it was fun to be on hot cocoa duty with the job of warming everyone up once they came inside.

Santa

Again this year, we made our annual trek to Molbak’s to visit Santa.  This year is the first year that Becca was excited to meet him.  Becca, being the talker that she is, had a lot to say to Santa.

We had to cut her off in order to take a few pictures, but not before she had a chance to tell Santa that she wants a train and that Ronny would like a ball.  It was news to me that Ronny wants a ball, but being the thoughtful sister that she is, Becca spoke up for him and asked for a ball.  Here are a couple of the shots from that trip.

Halloween

IMG_1643This year Becca trick-or-treated for the first time.  We visited a a few of our close neighbors and ended the evening at the Minter’s home.  Becca’s enthusiasm was contagious allowing her to finagle multiple candies from every home we visited.  IMG_1647

Ronny was unbelievably cute with his huge panda head bobbing around as he watched his sister in fascination.

Becca’s Three!

20111027-053420.jpg

This week Becca turned three. We began the celebration with a birthday party at the zoo with her friends Mathies, Oscar and Richard. On Sunday we will host the family for a dinner party at our home. Becca has wanted nothing but gum and cough drops for her birthday. Sadly, these are two things that she can’t yet have but I think that’s what makes them so desirable.

In reflecting over this last year I can’t believe how much Becca’s life has changed. She learned to use the potty, has developed amazing mastery of her gross motor skills and her verbal skills never cease to amaze me. The single biggest change in the past year has been becoming a big sister. There is no denying that Becca has a lot of enthusiasm over her little brother. She is always interested in helping to feed, bathe, soothe and entertain him. If we could only keep her from putting her hands in his mouth:) Her love and interest in Ronny causes a smile to break across his face every time he sees her. He is one lucky boy to have her in his life.

Becca has a way of engaging everyone she meets. She likes to joke that she’s shy, but nothing could be further from the truth. Wherever she goes she strikes up conversations with nearly everyone she encounters. Becca is never at a loss for words and will enthusiastically share whatever is on her mind. It’s fun to see her brighten people’s lives simply with her friendliness.

I love my Sweet Pea and look forward to what this next year will bring.

Mardi Gras Beads!

Becca has enjoyed hours of fun lately playing with her Mardi Gras beads.  She won’t wear them, but she loves moving them from here to there and putting them in this basket or that container.

Lincoln on the other hand, does tolerate wearing them.  Here he’s sporting the turquoise beads.  So manly.

Lilacs

Our lilac bush exploded with blossoms this week.  Becca and I had fun arranging the flowers.  I especially like her arrangement.  In a colander she layered leaves, then dirt and finished the arrangement by placing flowers on the top.

It makes my arrangement look so unoriginal.

Water Play

Becca is fascinated with water.  She loves to drink it, water the plants and play with it.  So, we brought out her bath toys, some kitchen utensils and filled the roasting pan with water.  The whisk was especially popular.

Midway through play Becca wanted to feed Lincoln dinner.  I should have guessed what would happen next…

The two activities were combined and Lincoln’s food ended up in the water.

Eager for Warmer Weather

Eager for summer, I cranked up the heat and dressed Becca in summer clothes.  Those arms and toes are too cute to be hidden in long sleeves and socks.

Becca ended the photo shoot by organizing my paperwork.  What a helper!
