This week Becca turned three. We began the celebration with a birthday party at the zoo with her friends Mathies, Oscar and Richard. On Sunday we will host the family for a dinner party at our home. Becca has wanted nothing but gum and cough drops for her birthday. Sadly, these are two things that she can’t yet have but I think that’s what makes them so desirable.
In reflecting over this last year I can’t believe how much Becca’s life has changed. She learned to use the potty, has developed amazing mastery of her gross motor skills and her verbal skills never cease to amaze me. The single biggest change in the past year has been becoming a big sister. There is no denying that Becca has a lot of enthusiasm over her little brother. She is always interested in helping to feed, bathe, soothe and entertain him. If we could only keep her from putting her hands in his mouth:) Her love and interest in Ronny causes a smile to break across his face every time he sees her. He is one lucky boy to have her in his life.
Becca has a way of engaging everyone she meets. She likes to joke that she’s shy, but nothing could be further from the truth. Wherever she goes she strikes up conversations with nearly everyone she encounters. Becca is never at a loss for words and will enthusiastically share whatever is on her mind. It’s fun to see her brighten people’s lives simply with her friendliness.
I love my Sweet Pea and look forward to what this next year will bring.

Becca is a joy. It is wonderful to see her grow. To paraphrase from the old Monk show, her insights and abilities are both a blessing and a curse. You can’t help but love her.
